Dental crowns

A dental crown is fixed over a tooth to restore its shape, strength, function and appearance. Crowns cover a tooth that has been badly damaged or decayed and are cemented in place.

Because a crown covers the whole visible part of the tooth, it effectively becomes the tooth’s new outer surface.

Crowns can be made from porcelain, zirconia (a very hard ceramic), metal (gold or another alloy), or a combination.
