Dentures are either full dentures – replaces missing teeth or partial dentures which replace one or more missing teeth.
They can be made from hard plastic – usually full dentures, or a metal skeleton based which are better as they are supported by the other teeth and gums this preventing stripping of the gums after a number of years which is what happens with hard plastic partial dentures long term.
This in turn can lead to loss of the remaining teeth and end up with full dentures.
Valplast or flexible plastic dentures (partial dentures only) fit snugly against remaining teeth and are more comfortable and tighter fit.
Any Denture - full or partial does not have to ‘look false’ but retention (tightness) is always an issue and most denture wearers complain of loose dentures and soreness from time to time.
